Class of 2018 – Golf Tournament Update

The 2018 Class of Leadership Pinellas hosted LP’s first inaugural Leadership Longball Classic Golf Tournament May 19, 2018 with more than 110 players, 20 sponsors, and a multitude of donors that all helped make this event a tremendous success.

The day was an exceptional display of selflessness and cohesion as class members, alumni, local businesses, and friends took to the links at East Lake Woodlands Country Club for a fun day of competition and camaraderie with all proceeds benefiting RCS and the Beth Dillinger Foundation.

The day began with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. as guests were entertained by DJ Doug Shaw and ran until 10 p.m. as the world famous one-man band “Billy Agans” entertained the crowd at the awards dinner and reception. Dialed In Golf Solutions and Promo Sports provided long-drive and hole-in-one competitions throughout the day as the players themselves were responsible for creating the rest of the competition to see who was the best golf team or at least who was best at filling out their scorecard incorrectly.

The weather was perfect until one participant happened to comment on the bullet that the tournament dodged triggering instant showers that thankfully only lasted 10 minutes.

Overall, a lively bunch of “not ready for the PGA tour” golfers raised awareness and a great deal of money for two of Pinellas County’s most deserving charities. The combination of commitment to a cause and dedication to one another made this year’s class project one that will be anticipated for many years to come. We expect to have raised more than $17,000 for this year’s charities.
