Class of ‘08
This year’s Leadership Pinellas class continues to raise the bar when it comes to their class projects. Thanks to Tamara Black and Bart Amey for setting up the volunteer opportunity and hands-on class project at RCS after their March program day! In the words of Kevin Kenney, “The class donated almost 300 pounds of food, stacked and wrapped several pallets for further distribution to other charities in need, and packed about a zillion (no lie!) bags with canned salmon, prunes, and spaghetti sauce (Yeah, we don’t get the combo either — maybe Iron Chef?)” See them in action in the video linked here.
They are now busy working on their final class project which is the first ever, Leadership Longball Captain’s Choice Classic. This is a golf tournament that promises to have lots of fun and surprises put on by this year’s amazing class members (maybe they will let me tease you with some of the unique features next month as they finalize details). They tell me to tee it high and invite you all to come let it fly at the Leadership Pinellas Longball Captain’s Choice Classic benefiting RCS and the Beth Dillinger Foundation. The class is still looking for golfers and golf teams – can you help spread the word? Help us fight hunger in Pinellas County by attending this inaugural event! Even if you’re not a golfer, there’s something for everyone. Prizes, silent auction, and a post tournament reception for only $50. The event is being held on Saturday, May 19 with check-in at 11 a.m. and tee-off at 1 p.m. at East Lake Woodlands Country Club, 1055 E. Lake Woodlands Pkwy., Oldsmar, FL 34677. If you can’t make it and want to help, they are also collecting items for silent auction like gift certificates, vacation rental donations, sports tickets, etc.

Thank you to all the alumni who came to our recruitment socials. Even with crazy weather, for the first one, we had a great turnout by both alumni and potential members of next year’s class. Now we need you to please follow up and encourage those you know considering applying to get their application in now – the deadline is May 1 and interviews are the week of May 14. When you submit your application, you also pick your interview time, so the sooner the better. I also wanted to give a shout out and thanks to Seema Ramroop for all her leadership and help with the class project, recruitment and sponsorship.
