HOW
TO APPLY TO LEADERSHIP PINELLAS
Leadership Pinellas is actively recruiting high energy, talented individuals for
the Leadership Pinellas Class of 2013. We are an issues-oriented learning
program that promotes personal growth, leadership opportunities, interchange
of ideas about our County and enthusiasm for services to the community.
The program is launched with a Class Orientation Retreat scheduled for
noon on Friday, August 10 through noon on Saturday, August 11, 2012.
This overnight retreat challenges and motivates participants for the sessions
during the next nine months. The eight-hour day sessions examine Human
Services, Government & Media, Business & Technology, Environment &
Infrastructure, Education, Health, Arts & Culture and Criminal Justice. Tentative
dates are usually the second Wednesday of September through May. A
three-day trip to Tallahassee is scheduled in March during the legislative session to
provide an up-front experience of our state government. Proposed program day
dates and Tallahassee trip will be confirmed prior to the first Recruitment Social
on Tuesday, April 10, 2012. Full attendance at the Orientation Retreat is
required to participate in the class. One absence of a Program Day is
allowed but additional missed classes must be made up the next year. It also
will be the responsibility of the class to participate in a class project if decided
by the Class (it is voluntary) as well as a Ride Along with a law enforcement
agency. The Ride Along is required regardless of past ride alongs or if you are
a member of law enforcement. In order to create a dynamic and interactive
learning environment, the class size will be limited.
Tuition for Leadership Pinellas is
$1,500, includes all costs associated with the program, is nonrefundable and must be paid by
July 18, 2012. A
$25 nonrefundable application fee is due and payable at the time the application is
submitted. Request for a partial scholarship is included in the application.
We offer two opportunities to learn more about this exciting program with a
Recruitment Social on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and a
Recruitment Breakfast on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m.
Both events will be held in the Margarete Heye Great Room at Ruth Eckerd
Hall, 1111 McMullen Booth Road in Clearwater. There is no charge for these
events, but an RSVP to 727-585-8889, email to judy@leadershippinellas.com
or online is required at least two days prior to the function.
The application
must be typed, completed with both signatures and mailed with the
$25 nonrefundable application fee to Recruitment Committee, Leadership Pinellas, P.O. Box 5986, Clearwater, FL 33758-5986 with postmark
no later than May 1, 2012.
