President’s Message March 2018

Georgie S. Menke ’09
President

Dear Fellow Leadership Alumni, Board Members, and Class Members:

On February 14 we all fell in love with education all day long – plus we were able to celebrate our very own LP photographer’s birthday, Jeff Hoberg ’16! Education is the cornerstone of our society. Without teachers and schools, where would be we? Thank you, teachers, for all you do for us!

February’s program committee, including Lindsay Carson ’16, Jennifer Cowan ’17, Suzanne Ruley ’17, Stephanie Smith ’10, and Lauren Vonderau ’17, did an outstanding job giving us an overview of the educational system here in Pinellas County. We learned about the different avenues of education for our children, from homeschooling and virtual schools to early learning centers and PTEC all the way to our very own St. Pete College. Thank you, Stan Vittetoe, for such a wonderful discussion and tour of your campus.

It just so happens that two of our Board of Directors members were invited to attend the Chancellor’s Best Practices event in Tallahassee on Feb. 8, 2018. Ms. Andrea Henning and Dr. Eric Carver accompanied St. Petersburg College President, Dr. Tonjua Williams, where they learned what the future holds for the Florida College System. The event was widely attended by leadership throughout the Florida College System and was hosted at Florida State University’s Doak Campbell Stadium Champions Club.

Keep your eye out for the nomination for the Deborah Vincent award, and we look forward to seeing you on March 20 for our first recruitment social.

Your President,

Georgie Menke
