Human Services Program Day

Last month, Human Services Day was rescheduled due to the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. Unlike most years, the class could enjoy a crisp, cool October day.

The program day began with the always popular “Hunger Games” at RCS Food Bank. The class enjoyed more hands-on experiences at The ARC Tampa Bay, Clothes to Kids, Homeless Empowerment Project (HEP), Pinellas Hope, and Lighthouse of Pinellas. The day concluded at Habitat for Humanity where the class viewed two recently dedicated homes.

Each stop highlighted their leadership skills and discussed the need for community partnerships to provide quality services. The class listened to leaders speaking about how their organizations make a difference by promoting their missions in the community.

The Human Service Day committee was Brian Siracusa ’14, Randy Nilsson ’14, Ekaterini Gerakios-Siren ’16, and Sean King ’15.
