A Word From Our President Elect

Cyndee Haydon
President Elect
Class of ‘08

I am excited to have the opportunity to serve as your LP President-Elect this year. Our President, Georgie Menke, has asked me to focus on four areas. One is working with Seema Ramroop, the New Alumni Director from the Class of ’17, and the Class of ‘18 on their class project. This year we’re asking that the class projects focus on issues of hunger in our community. We will also be asking them to limit the number of projects to four. We ask that at least one is a hands-on project to keep the focus on the purpose of working together as a class and giving back to the community in a balanced way.

Georgie has also asked me to lead the efforts for her in two other areas: expanding our already successful LP recruitment process and to increase and improve our LP sponsorship offerings to provide more value to both our sponsors and our organization. We are evaluating and responding to requests for more levels and benefits for our current and potential sponsors across all our programs.

The organization is hoping to implement some new ideas we learned at the Association of Leadership Program’s annual conference that I was able to attend on Leadership Pinellas’ behalf this summer. Ideas like having more informal recruitment opportunities all around Pinellas County throughout the year and also working on creating an LP speaker’s bureau that will work with our marketing team. The speaker’s bureau will be made up of LP alumni knowledgeable about all of our programs like LP, YLP, the Leadership Institute and Immersion.  These alumni can help tell the Leadership Pinellas story throughout our community, at local businesses, and at various organizations.

If you are interested in getting involved with any of these projects or interested in learning more about our sponsorship opportunities, please reach out to me via email as I welcome the opportunity to talk with you.

Lastly, I am excited to be working with the different committee chairs to help document and create succession plans as part of our organization’s strategic planning to make for smoother transfers of information and institutional knowledge from one member to another from one year to the next. It’s an exciting time in Leadership Pinellas, and I’m looking forward to being a part of it with you.
